Tales from the Gut refers to stories told from the soul, from trauma accounts and nostalgic memories, to tumblr posts and twitter rants, to fantasy and folklore. We invite artists working across disciplines, to create artwork that reflects both internal and external experiences in experimental methods of making and viewing. The show will project a dissonance-inducing and awe-inspiring atmosphere harkening back to Kenmore Square’s rebellious past.

NIGHT THINGS, Nationwide Print Exchange Comes to Experimental Kenmore Square Gallery, Explores What Happens When The Sun Goes Down
Boston, MA (June 25, 2018) Post-Cubicle Gallery will host the opening reception for the Night Things Print Exchange Show from 6-9PM on Friday July 6, 2018. The show will feature the fine art prints of eleven up-and-coming young artists from across the country. This exhibition is organized and curated by Boston-based artist, Sam Kindler and focuses on theme of “night things.” These are the stories of the creatures and happenings that occur under cover of darkness, and in our dreams.
Night Things continues the tradition of printmaking portfolio exchanges, which connect emerging artists nation-wide from diverse educational and art-making backgrounds. By bringing in perspectives ranging from sculpture to graphic design to anthropology, the exchange results in mysterious, funny, and beautiful prints.
Featuring works by: Antonio Cardoso, Olivia Crosby, Edie Côté, Lola Davis, Natalie Green, Kendra Keyes, Sam Kindler, Andrew Scripter, Laura Wood, Hanna Yang. Posters designed by Hanna Yang.
Sam Kindler is a Boston-based visual artist with a B.A. in Studio Art from Beloit College. She has previously exhibited in Milwaukee and Boston.
Untitled Perspectives focuses on the commonly approached photographic theme of the road trip. Instead of romanticizing the idea of being on the road, it focuses on further introspection- avoiding specificity of time, place, or person. Rather than being the documentation of a singular journey, the combined images form an eclectic narrative, placing the viewer in a simultaneously anonymous, yet familiar environment. Without beginning or end, the images reside in an ambiguous stillness of time, allowing the viewer to examine the individual emotional experience associated with exploration.
Featuring the works of Kelly Burgess, Ross Kiah, Brian Matthews, Evan Perkins, and Emma Ryan.
Please join us for the opening reception on Friday September 7th from 6-9PM for refreshments and musical performances.
